About

Hello and welcome to The Raw Food Project,

My name is Sonja and I am a certified raw food chef currently living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I am originally from Switzerland and found my way to the US about 14 years ago to attend College in California.

During the year 2000 I became ill with anxiety attacks and candida. I chose a natural approach to healing. My health overhaul included changing my diet. Back then I knew that eliminating sugar, meat and dairy from my diet was crucial. I went vegan on and off and collected some books along the way. I had Raw Food Real World from Matthew Kenney and Sarma Melngailis in my book collection. I loved the pictures but was a little taken back by the technique and raw preparation jargon.

It took a visit to Pure Food and Wine in 2007  to experience and fall in love with raw food.

Then in April 2009 I went back to NYC an made a point to visit One Lucky Duck® juice & takeaway to completely be in awe about raw dessert. I purchased a dessert so delicious that I had to stop in Washington square to take a moment and enjoy every bite. I could not believe it! That was when I thought that I could definitely do this my whole life!

I finally took the raw food path in May 2009. For health reasons I went on a 10 day detox at The Living Foods Institute in Atlanta, GA. The detox program consists of raw food, raw food preparation classes and detox treatments to alleviate and help the detox process. It was eye opening and a life altering experience to say the least! I had lost 5 lbs during the 10 day program and continued to loose weight and dress sizes while I remained on the raw food lifestyle.

That’s when I decided that I wanted to learn more about it and learn to prepare raw food that would be so delicious that even my “cooked” husband would dare to try!

So there we are. This blog is about my experience with raw food, with health and with preparing these delicious meals for everyone to enjoy.
